one last one

The plan originally for today was to go through my pile of almost finish stuff and see how much I could get done. Yeah. I learned this yeah to not plan and lookie lookie plan went right out the window.
(Update on the heat. It was something simple.  Stupid simple. But enough to stop the whole system in the tracks. )
Well I did get 1 thing finished a few minutes ago.
I make one every year and here is 2020's. A little late but this year has taught me to just go with it so hey.

Stay safe

because its still 2020 after all

Woke up to a chilly house. Because why not right. Ugh. Hopefully it's just a simple fix and just say the thermostat and not like a big system thing. (Christmas eve we had that nor'easter come through and well there was a ton of power fluctuations throughout the night before it finally went out for a few hours so fingers crossed- yes I was up finishing stuff for Christmas so I have first hand knowledge of that.  Funny thing we lost power when the wind died down)
Meanwhile lots of layers and wool. I'm wearing my Elizabeth Zimmerman's New Zealand sweater which I made for me using measurements and when I weighed (99lbs more. That last pound refuses though I am not really trying) more then I do now so I am able to wear a hoodie underneath.  It is most definitely not a great fitting sweater right now but it is so warm and thats all I car about right now.  Also have on a hat and socks =]

So 2020. Please go the fuck away. Here's hoping 2021 is better.

well it look and feels like an early spring morning

Grass is green. Sun is warm. Birds are chirping.

Though it is 10 am on December 13 and we are supposed to get hit by a major coastal storm mid week that going to dump major snow on us.

Well it is 2020 after all no rules rights?

Another reason

To always have knitting on you.  This pandemic has caused doctors to limit the number of people in the office. I'm totally ok with this.  Its just the majority of my child are technically adults so I can't be with them.  This can be a little overwhelming honestly especially since how many teenagers have been to doctor appointments by themselves. At least they let me in to update the insurance because well they are going to make sure they get paid right?
Anyways, I'm sitting in the car knitting away on Mj's Christmas hat. This year its hats. Thankfully I learned to cable without a cable needle so I can zoom along easily. He picked the yarn. Its my hands spun from some BFL I bought from Rhinebeck when I was pregnant with him. I guess it was destined for him. =]

I think I can do these in my sleep

It feels like it anyway. It feels like mask making has been the only sewing I have done this year. I know I have sewn other things but ugh. Sadly more coming too.
Bought some purple cauliflower at the farmers market and roasted it. Just some olive oil and kosher salt 400 degrees and tada
Yummy!!
There was way way more her but Hubby and I snacked on it while I was making dinner. So so good.

It feels like I've been holding my breathe for almost 4 years

And now, now I can finally breath again. Now all we have to do is wait until 1/20/2021 12pm

It took forever it seems

To get here. 4 very long years. I had to wait on line for the first time ever. Totally ok. Brought my knitting with me (just all my leftovers combined into ball and knitting a square and I am just winging it)

this is a test post ( with a really cool picture hopefully)

Hopefully, new phone. New app. New way of blogging with mixed reviews on how well it works. So we shall see. I jumped from apple. Whole new learning curve. Nothing makes you feel stupid like new technology.

Random

(No idea why all text is on top. Will try to fix in morning).
So I watched my local spider make their web. Honestly it was amazing to watch. The deer came back and ate the Swiss chard down to the dirt but it's trying to grow back.  Spent savasana watching the clouds. I guess you could call that meditating. Finally, the first pomegranate of the season. Took me about an hour to completely demolish it. It was so good.

More freaking masks (900th Post!!!)

Though these two were made by my Ang. Shes's learning to sew. She did really well. I am so proud. The first two things she sewed on the machine.

While I was showing her and walking her through I made these for my Kris. Between working and college and well making a fashion statement she requested more.

and of course for Da Bears fan.

Deer eat Swiss chard?

I guess the little stinkers do. Well not really little. At least they left me some.

18!

18 years ago today I brought you home. You were this tiny tiny little thing swimming in newborn cloths at two days old. Time has flew little one. You are now off at college. You have grown into such an amazing sassy (can't forget that) woman (that was painful to type). Stay wild my Kris.

Different first day

Yesterday was the first day of school for my last two and for them it was online. Mj will be 100% online 3rd grade and Ang will be 50% hybrid 11th grade. Needless to say it's going to be interesting

My view

From my yoga mat. We are finally getting some nice weather and I am taking full advantage by moving my morning yoga practice to the deck. Those giant evergreens ( it's hard to tell but there are two close together ) shade the deck til almost lunchtime now so I can get in my 40 minutes. It's different and I am really enjoying the fresh air. Sadly the heat and humidity are making a return for a few days :( Just got to make it to Saturday.

Infusion (again)

It's taken almost a year to get my numbers as good as they are (damn unexplained anemia). Doc wants my iron store number at at least 100. Last blood test showed 70. (Though a year ago it was 6 - he couldn't figure how I was even functioning). Slow and steady wins this race because a nasty side effect of these infusions that can sometimes happens (which means of course it has to happen to me) is the body can say nope don't wanna deal with this any more and the organs and veins throw a fit. So we are going to stretch to every little weeks to see if the numbers still go in the right direction and my reaction calms downs. (So far so good. I don't feel like I have run over by a massive heard of elephants)
Pictures: knitting for waiting and reading for during infusion

Lunchtime

So I am a vegan. (not the butt of jokes vegan - live and let live people, just dont force your beliefs onto someone else) Though the thing I really don't enjoy is that people seem to think I eat a ton of salads. Umm no. I honestly am not a fan, I really have to be in the mood for one.  Granted salad encompasses many different things but for this, I am talking about the rabbit food kind.

So today this is my lunch. Lunch for me is my biggest meal. Small breakfast, BIG lunch and small dinner.  I have a hiatal hernia and if i want to sleep tummy needs to be mostly empty (learned the hard way - of course)

Pictured: tofu (its in the paper towel), zuccinni, jalepeno, mushrooms, peas, corn, butternut squash, cauliflower, broth, coconut milk and yes minute rice because I was hungry and getting testy and too lazy to use my instant pot to make rice (besides its forfided with iron and I am also anemic - which has nothing to do with being vegan - sadly my body just doesn't like to hold onto iron never has) Not pictured the tricolored potatoes, onion, shallot and thai red curry paste.

Yummy. I measured out portions on everything except for the coconut milk because well its my weakness when it comes to currys.

This is half people. Half. (I won't mention that it was so so good that I did go back and finish it) Usually I save the other half for tomorrows lunch  but technically even though I ate all of it I just ate a serving of everything (except the coconut milk) rough count on calories @900. (darn coconut milk)

Yeah so this vegan is not suffering or depriving herself at all trust me. biggest misconception out there. Well, one of them.

Stay safe people

and wear a freaking mask!

More masks

Because well they are actually going to try to open school here (yeah right) we do have the option to do 100% online and for our youngest we are. Our Ang wants to try the hybrid version and the other three are off to college soon. Though everything is changing so frequently who knows what will happen. Honestly I don't think this forced school opening is a good idea. My children are not experiments. It also amazes me how fast we went from teachers are underpaid and unsung hero's - we need to support them! To get back into the classroom now we are not going to help with ppe and we don't care if you get sick. It's so sad what this country has come to in more ways then one

Sewing masks because

Well it's not over. Though I am really getting tired of people just up and deciding this pandemic is over. Yeah people because that's how it works. (Insert HUGE eye roll). Pictured 3/5 I made today. I have a bunch more cut out and ready to sew. Honestly I have no idea how many I have made sadly.

Morning finds

Little spiderwebs all over the yard. It was so humid this morning that the dew was very heavy and these little (and one not so little) webs were able to be seen. It was pretty amazing to see something that is most likely always there but goes undetected most of the time.

Proof

Crazy right fully grown fully ripe tomato that is the same size as a blueberry (I do not recommend popping both in your mouth at once)

Let’s get these

Candy land tomatoes. The tag said sweet like candy and we like the smaller tomatoes in this house (Because well we eat them like candy) so why not well turns out they are the size of large blueberries.

First two of the season

I have been harvesting my rainbow Swiss chard for a few weeks now but these two surprised me tonight while I was cleaning up. So yummy. There are so many green ones on my plants I feel like I am about to be over run with cherry tomatoes (so not a bad thing we eat them like candy here). I also almost forgot that two of my plant had the yellow kind and almost left them. Mj and I agree the we delicious!

Congratulations

To my amazing Kwis. You made it through so much to get to this point and not just the Corona. A school district that couldn't bother to help you after we discovered that you acquired both of your parents learning disabilities. Thank goodness we moved to a district filled with teachers that wanted to help you any way they could and did. You blossomed and grew and amazed everyone. You are moving on to college now and you will be even more amazing. We are so proud of you Kris Fish.

Stress relief

Well with everything going on these days stress and anxiety is running a little high these days. So exercise is a way to deal with it and so is fresh air and well our fire pit needed work big time so...  Nothing like digging out the old one, digging out the fire break and filling it in with a crap ton of rocks to help relief some stress. So worth it. It looks so so much better.
