Arm knitting

Yep arm knitting. I saw an advertisement for it and figured it should be easy enough. It's just knitting using your arms instead of needles. Your supposed to use bulky yarn held double but I don't really have any. So I improvised. I pictured what I wanted something black with a pop of color. The black I had was a sport weight alpaca I bought at Rhinebeck. Holding it doubled I then crochet long loose chains which resulted in 6 strand thick alpaca yarn. I then used some mostly bulky hand spun yarn I had in shades of blue and then arm knitted. I knitted it as long as my arms outstretched bound off and sewed the two ends together. Ta Da I have a cowl. The whole process took an episode of MythBusters. Quick and easy. Love it

Bad picture taken in car with glare from snow. Hey the sun was out I had to grab my chance =]

I spent time with my sewing machine

My fingers are sore and I can't knit for too long before I have to stop. So yesterday I took out some fabric that was slated to be a quilt and today, magically, I had about an hour where I could just sit down and sew. It was nice to take my time and just see at a slow pace. I even had a few minutes to iron the seams flat. Shocking. I am actually do this the "right" way =]

2012 wrap up

Late of course but hey better late then never.

So here are my stats:
Yarn used: 19,623 yards
Yarn bought: 8,403 yards
Yarn Gifted: 7,869 yards (yep i was gifted a lot of yarn last year)

Since I was gifted so much my net difference is only -3,351 yards. Its totally ok though since those who gifted me yarn are amazing people.

I did spin up 17 oz of fiber and was gifted 12 oz. =)

ETA: I just checked and last year I knitted the most yardage since I started keeping track! Yeah Me!

Day 7 and Day 8

Not much got done on day 7. A really cranky almost two year old put a hamper on my knitting.

So on Day 8 I finished knitting. I'll wash it after I try it on him tomorrow. So here's a quick pic. Big M modeling little M's sweater

Day 6

Well I got the first sleeve done and the second picked up. Hopefully the second sleeve goes faster then the first

Day 5

The black hole of the sleeve knitting. At the end of the day I am 3 inches short of just one sleeve. Agh!

Day 4

Ok so all I have left is the sleeves. Sleeves - I am so not a fan of since they seem to go on forever. I even weaved in all the ends just to put off the sleeves.  Good thing they are only 10.5 inches long
