A new normal

(I know Aunty I haven't told you anything. I just got all my test results back today. I will call soon promise)
Well every three weeks as of now I get to spend time in the hospitals infusion center getting iron pumped into me. My body seems to not want to hold onto any and well it is kinda important. As my hematologist said to me my iron counts are so low it's like doing a cross country drive on an empty tank. That's pretty much how I feel every day. And since the freaking machine is so picky about arm movement and well it takes numerous sticks to get a good vein my arm does not move for those 45 minutes. Forced reading time is so horrible :)

( book is so far very strange but I didn't want to stop reading. Time flew)

Car Knitting

I needed something portable to leave in the car for the just in case knitting/ waiting for the kids/ crap I forgot the thing I am working on at home.
The yarn is one of the yarns MJ picked out for my birthday back in 2017 (thank you blog). The yarn pools like crazy and this is the third try and I'm loving it. It's seed stitch (that's knit 1 purl one across end with knit the every other row you purl the knits and knit the purls as it appears to you. Sounds complicated but it's not. ). The pooling is creating a pattern that is really cool. Hopefully it stays.

Pinwheels

So now I'm at the slow section of pinwheels. 6 of the 8 rows has to be done by hand in the neutral position on my loom. My pick up stick is just a repurposed size 13 knitting needle. It works perfectly. It's is slow. Half an hour for two repeats (it will speed up once I get my groove going and memorize the pattern). I included the picture and one where I tried to outline the pinwheels. There is not a huge contrast in my colors so it's more subtle. I tried to put in a dotted line the first repeat has the bottom chopped off and the top repeat gains it point in the next repeat. It should be more noticeable with more repeats. (Btw. The darker color is called "Goth Girl" and the lighter color is called "11 ways to dry a chili pepper". My friend Karin dyed them. Psst- Periwinkle Sheep on Etsy and fiber fairs in the northeast ( she really doesn't need me plugging for her. She's amazing and successful already and I told her she would be))

Pinwheel time

I only made it to 65". Why? Well as seen in the second picture I am running out of warp. I only have about 18" inches left. 2017 me obviously likes to cut it close or I was afraid I was going to run out of yarn or I messed up math. No idea. It was close to 3 years ago. That's the problem with old projects and bad notes ( I'm trying to work on the note part)

Today was for recovery

And boy I still feel it. While I was looking for a picture I found this one. The morning after our ice storm (12/18/2019) in the morning golden hour. Everything was beautiful in the morning sun but this picture is my favorite

2 hours

Into the (this time) 15.5 hour road trip to drop Dillon off at college, we were treated to a beautiful sunrise. This was at a rest stop and not even the best part. Though this was the only sun to be seen. The rest of the trip was rain and winter mix ick.

Soooo close

Would have gotten there too if it were not for that darn Netflix. I am watching our planet while weaving. So. I was going to stop at 60" but I think I can get a few extra inches and since it will be mine and I prefer longer scarves I'm going for it. I would be ecstatic if I could get to 70" before the pinwheels but we shall see.

The end of

A trilogy of trilogies. Dillon and I went and saw the last Star Wars movie today. Yes I cried when Leia died. ( hey Aunty I remember seeing Return of the Jedi in the nyack movie theater way way back in the day. Do you?)

Sometimes

It's worth checking out the thrift store. Hubby and I were in nyack today and decided to pop by the thrift store. Now thrift stores re let's hit or miss but today was a hit. Those three needle retail for well over $30. I got all three for $9. I also found an American tourist suitcase in very good condition $10. I have a thing for them. Strange I know. I use them for storing stuff. I will have take a pic later. It's getting a sun bath to help get rid of that "musty I've been sitting in someone's attic for a long time" smell.

My morning

Spent this cold dreary morning (January is back 31 and cloudy) cooking. When you have diet restrictions like me and are the only one in the house like that it is some times easier to cook in bulk and freeze. All this became two pans of ratatouille, a pot of eggplant Punjabi, a pot of chick pea curry (basically chicken curry but instead of chicken - chick peas) and a head of roasted cauliflower that I was going to save for other dishes but well I started picking at it (sooo good just a little olive oil and a sprinkle of salt) and it turned into breakfast. Oh well. Yesterday I cooked a bunch too. Granola, roasted nuts and roasted edamame. Still have two versions of one recipe to go but well I have no pots at the moment so the sausage gumbo will have to wait until tomorrow

Well it was a nice tease

The past almost 48 hours of 60's for the temperature (high 68 and last nights low a whopping 64). Tonight the chill is definitely back and it looks like a full moon (or at least close to). Not a bad picture for a phone

My little one

Is 8 today. Cake and picture of Mj are credited to my Kris. The hazy effect in his picture is credited to Dillon burning his lunch and the sun actually shining.

Almost two years

That's how long it's been since I have woven on my loom. It's honestly has not felt that long. Did a quick 4 inches tonight once I figured out where I was.

This year so far

New year new start. Maybe. I'm going to try. In New Year's Day I finished a new hat and then yesterday I hanked up the last of 2019's spinning. I also tallied what I did last year. Let's just say 2019 sucked big time in many ways.
