Feeling Almost Human

In the early morning of the day after my birthday I discovered that my family gave me one last birthday gift. The stomach flu. All I have to say is that they are lucky I love them dearly. I am still not 100% and it just might be that another bug has made its way home. This is the season for bugs to come home from school. Ugh is all I have to say.

They Blue blob from last post is finally dry, it has been rainy and damp here and well the weather people are telling us here that about 5 inches of rain are on there way in the next few days. I tried getting a decent picture but the color is just off. The color from the last post is no where near the true color and since I have to send these pictures and wait until the pattern is released there will be a little bit of a wait.

So how about something else to look at.....

This is my Lala Shawl (Rav link)

I used yarn that had for almost 2 years. I had bought it on clearance in a yarn store that no longer is around. I loved the blues and since it was a by the bag sale the black tagged along. I had tried a bunch of patterns with this yarn and well nothing ever came about. I had needed something simple to work on back while my back was really bad. I actually knit a good portion laying flat on my back. Can I tell you if you need to work out muscles in your arms you didn't know you had this is the exercise that works. They shawl wasn't heavy. It is just knitting at a weird angle that did it.

I figured I will just keep going until I ran out and use the black for trim. I figured it would be kinda silly to hold onto 1 ball and sometimes those one balls are the hardest to use up.

The yarn is cotton and it is Lana Grossa. I have not been able to find it on the internet anywhere so it must really be discontinued. Okay scratch that. I search Raverly again and I think I found it.

Well that is about it for know. Gonna try and get some sleep and hope that I am not coming down will the new bug (thankfully not a stomach one- there is something I didn't think I would say)

Now the boys have it. I am the only one left who hasn't gotten it yet
SD - It was in the 70's last week ; ). I hope your snow is gone soon

One of my favorite things

This is part of the wall in my bedroom. It is my collection of paintings from my Mom. Every time I look at them I just can not help but smile. Last time I was at my Mom's house I basically took the last two. (they are the ones without the frames). I hope to one day have the wall full of her paintings. Don't worry Mom you can take your time ; )

Love ya Mom

My favorite Hat

Well since the test knit looks pretty much the same and the sweater is in a little break (about 2 inches from the end of the right side) I thought a little trip done memory lane might be good.

Yeah Sockhead

This is my Sockhead Hat (sorry only Rav link) I love this yarn and this colorway. I had a pair of socks that I loved before they were felted in the wash. I have a pair of fingerless mitts that I wear all the time and did a test knit scarf with this colorway in a different weight yarn. I had 1 hank left and figured a hat would complete the set. I tried several patterns but nothing worked for me. The hats were ok but I didn't love it and well I wanted to love it. This was I do believe the 4th pattern I tried. Now the pattern is originally written for sock weight yarn but well a little math and everything is good to go. I basically knitted until I ran out of yarn

This is also the hat that The Hubby says make me look like I have a big forehead. Well it only took him nine and a half years to discover i have a big forehead. = )

Well

The Devils didn't win. It does seem like I am a bad luck charm with
these games. I have gone to 4 Devils at the Islanders games and all
four times the Devils have lost. I guess really it is a win win for me
because I am an Islander fan too. Though Devils - it would be nice to
see you guys win one

On the bright side - Look what the Hubby got for me!! A game puck!!
Love you Honey!!!

Testing again

I am test knitting again = ) It is a new pattern from Samantha Roshak at KnitQuest (knitquest.com. For some reason linking is not working will try to fix later)
This is not the yarn I orginally wanted to use but I can not find my STR Rook-y. I do believe this is the first time I have actually lost yarn. It has got to be somewhere right, unless of course it grew legs. This yarn that I am using is a really pretty blue green. I do believe it is Palette from Knit Picks and the color is Marine.

The S word

I so want to say that it is absolutely beautiful out. Granted It is right now only 42 degrees but compared to what it has been well. The kiddies wanted to walk to school this morning, they like to walk to school and I am not going to say no to exercise, and being the sun was out and felt so nice we went. Birds were singing and we talked about the S word (starts with s and ends in ring). I love winter but it is nice to see signs that the seasons are changing. As we walked we looked. We say Robins and green (!!!) shots popping out of the ground. The blah-ness of the mud and grey everywhere it seems are getting to me and even though they were weeds it was a wonderful thing to see those shots coming out of the ground.

Of course Mama Nature isn't done yet with winter. We are suppose to get snow tonight. It is however not tonight and I have the windows open and enjoying every minute while I can.

Now lets talk about my Olympic sweater.

This is where I am. Back and left side done. The right side is what I ma working on. There is a little white marker by the yarn ball (the other one that is on the bottom just marks which side is the front. I didn't want to repeat that mistake again). Where that white marker is is where I was when the flames went out. Just a few rows short of the end of the ribbing. I almost got to the V decreases last night. That is one thing that makes the fronts go a little faster, since there is the V neck decreases on one side and the arm hole decreases on the other the stitch count goes down to 40. The sleeves should be really easy since I am keeping them short sleeves. Famous last words. = )

Even though I didn't finish on time I still am proud of myself. That is a lot of knitting to get done in a short amount of time. Plus I changed a lot. I have fill 4 pages in my knitting notebook with the changes I made so I would be able to keep everything still looking like a sweater that (hopefully) fits the way I pictured it.

=)
