My favorite Hat

Well since the test knit looks pretty much the same and the sweater is in a little break (about 2 inches from the end of the right side) I thought a little trip done memory lane might be good.

Yeah Sockhead

This is my Sockhead Hat (sorry only Rav link) I love this yarn and this colorway. I had a pair of socks that I loved before they were felted in the wash. I have a pair of fingerless mitts that I wear all the time and did a test knit scarf with this colorway in a different weight yarn. I had 1 hank left and figured a hat would complete the set. I tried several patterns but nothing worked for me. The hats were ok but I didn't love it and well I wanted to love it. This was I do believe the 4th pattern I tried. Now the pattern is originally written for sock weight yarn but well a little math and everything is good to go. I basically knitted until I ran out of yarn

This is also the hat that The Hubby says make me look like I have a big forehead. Well it only took him nine and a half years to discover i have a big forehead. = )

Well

The Devils didn't win. It does seem like I am a bad luck charm with
these games. I have gone to 4 Devils at the Islanders games and all
four times the Devils have lost. I guess really it is a win win for me
because I am an Islander fan too. Though Devils - it would be nice to
see you guys win one

On the bright side - Look what the Hubby got for me!! A game puck!!
Love you Honey!!!

Testing again

I am test knitting again = ) It is a new pattern from Samantha Roshak at KnitQuest (knitquest.com. For some reason linking is not working will try to fix later)
This is not the yarn I orginally wanted to use but I can not find my STR Rook-y. I do believe this is the first time I have actually lost yarn. It has got to be somewhere right, unless of course it grew legs. This yarn that I am using is a really pretty blue green. I do believe it is Palette from Knit Picks and the color is Marine.

The S word

I so want to say that it is absolutely beautiful out. Granted It is right now only 42 degrees but compared to what it has been well. The kiddies wanted to walk to school this morning, they like to walk to school and I am not going to say no to exercise, and being the sun was out and felt so nice we went. Birds were singing and we talked about the S word (starts with s and ends in ring). I love winter but it is nice to see signs that the seasons are changing. As we walked we looked. We say Robins and green (!!!) shots popping out of the ground. The blah-ness of the mud and grey everywhere it seems are getting to me and even though they were weeds it was a wonderful thing to see those shots coming out of the ground.

Of course Mama Nature isn't done yet with winter. We are suppose to get snow tonight. It is however not tonight and I have the windows open and enjoying every minute while I can.

Now lets talk about my Olympic sweater.

This is where I am. Back and left side done. The right side is what I ma working on. There is a little white marker by the yarn ball (the other one that is on the bottom just marks which side is the front. I didn't want to repeat that mistake again). Where that white marker is is where I was when the flames went out. Just a few rows short of the end of the ribbing. I almost got to the V decreases last night. That is one thing that makes the fronts go a little faster, since there is the V neck decreases on one side and the arm hole decreases on the other the stitch count goes down to 40. The sleeves should be really easy since I am keeping them short sleeves. Famous last words. = )

Even though I didn't finish on time I still am proud of myself. That is a lot of knitting to get done in a short amount of time. Plus I changed a lot. I have fill 4 pages in my knitting notebook with the changes I made so I would be able to keep everything still looking like a sweater that (hopefully) fits the way I pictured it.

Random Again

It has been very busy here with all that has been going on.

Sweater Update.I am working on the right front. I am still in the ribbing section. I have to pay attention so I do not forget any button holes. So that leaves the front to finish and two sleeves to knit and the whole shebang to sew together. So yes there is a slim chance that I will have this finished by tomorrow night. I am ok with this. It is my first Knitting Olympics. I didn't have the confidence in myself last time to enter (the whole I wasn't a good enough knitter) Talk about defeating oneself before the race.

The whole fact that this will be the quickest that I have ever made a sweater and that I have changed so much on this pattern and it still looks like a sweater are amazing enough for me.

Next time though I am not picking a sweater that is knitted on size 5 needles. My poor finger joints.

I have to say I am sad to see the Olympics ending. I love watching the Winter Olympics. Hockey and Curling( believe it or not) are my favorites. Canada won the Mens gold in curling. The gold metal women's hockey game was between Canada and US and the Mens hockey game is tomorrow. Canada vs the US it is going to be a great game

On that note I have a question. I had made a comment (Where and when not important) that I hoped that Canada would win their Semi final game. I got a dirty look and basically was told that I was un american because I wanted Canada to win. First off Canada was not playing the Us and well Team Canada is an amazing team. (Hello people Canada - Winter sports?!?!?!) I personally cheer for athletes. Not teams or in this case countries. Even tomorrow I just want to see a great game.

So does that make me un-american?

Crash!

Ok here is my update. I finished the back while I was watching the US
vs Canada preliminary game. Started the LEFT front while watching Ice
dancing finals. I was able to finish all 12 inches of ribbing done and
last night during the Canada vs Germany quarterfinal I started the
lace section.

Well I sat down a few minutes ago to continue and discovered I started
the lace on the wrong side as if I was going to knit the right side!
( hence the capitals before). Now it didn't seem like a big deal at
first but when I get to sewing the sweater together the ribbing will
not match right and may not look right when sewn together.

So I hit a snafu. I have to go and take out a nights worth of lace.
Well on the bright side at least I discovered it now and not when I
was trying to sew it together

Now I have a little thing to say about the US vs Canada game. It was a
great game and yes Canada lost but to go and bench one of the best
goaltenders playing for last nights game? Yes the back up is a great
goaltender in his own way but Canada was facing the German team and it
was very one sided and trust me I am very happy that Canada won. I
just think it was a little hasty. Ok I am off my soap box now

= )
