Saturday was Yarn day! It all started when Hubby took me to the new yarn store (that is only 10 minutes away - YIPEE!!!). Hubby's Mom took all the kiddies to the movies so it was just the 2 of us and a yarn store. We got there when it just open and oh all the yarn. Wait the store is The Village Knitter. The owner (who I forgot her name - sorry) was wonderful. It was so nice to talk to some one where you do not have to explain anything. I am so going back. (What yarn diet?) Then when we got home the mail was in and my order from the Loopy Ewe was here!

Lets start the drooling with the Loopy Ewe yarns, shall we?

Now for the haul from The Village Knitter
Here is a yarn from Cape Cod. The women dyes the yarn in lobster pots then lets them dry in the salty sea air. Hence the name Lobster Pot yarns. Here are 2 hanks of bulky wool/mohair in Seafoam.

Here is Noro Kureyon. This is the worsted weight size of the sock yarn and well I some how manage to get the same colorway as the sock yarn. There were lots of colorways too. I must like this one.

Next is Malabrigo in Bijou Blue. I completely understand why people say Mmmmmalabrigio. This yarn is like Buttah.

Here are 4 hanks of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Bittersweet

and Purple Iris

The last yarn is Bamboo by SWTC. Something about the color called to me.


Lastly Hubby found a basket of these buttons. These 3 were my favorites and followed me home. (Click to make the pic bigger if you can not read the buttons)


When I was putting all of this lovely yarn away I re organized my stash. I have a TON of sock yarn! I had no clue how much sock yarn I have. It is ok though since sock yarn does not count as stash yarn. ; )

Saturday was Yarn day

Guess What!!!!!!

I just had to post this because well I am excited and well you guys will get why......My wheel is ordered!!! Yeah!!!

ETA: Sorry about the lack of details everyone I was was excited. I am getting an Ashford Kiwi. I ordered it from the Woolery. I also got the high speed kit, maintenance kit, and a book. It is being shipped UPS ground so hopefully I will be spinning next weekend.

My Monkeys are DONE!!!

Finally they are done!! This pair of socks seemed to take forever. I used yarn form Rhinebeck from Pucker Brush farms in PA. Love the colors and they fit perfectly!! I made lots of mods on the pattern. I knitted them toe up, with the chart upside down (by mistake), short row heel and 3 repeats on the leg. Oh and I left out the last row of the chart.

My birthday is coming up, yep the big 31. Anyway my mommy sent me my gifts early (yeah!)

Last 2 books from Harry Potter. I so love HP and feel silly for jumping in so late. When Order came out my mommy bought the set for the kids, well they sat there and sat there. I loved the movies and since I think the books are always better then the movies I dug them out and started ready the first one to my son. I was hooked finished the 1st book that night.
I stopped reading Order because I didn't have the other books and thought I had to wait until my birthday to get them. Now I am finishing up Order and trying really really hard not to peak.

The other gift was a gift certificate to the Loopy Ewe. It took about 1 minute for me to spend it one I redeemed it. =) Yarn is on the way here! It's a good thing. =)

Back to socks.....

Well Mommy your socks are finished. They are Dove socks from Cat Bordhi's book New pathways for sock knitters.



Yes they look strange but they do fit like regular socks. My mommy is a size 7.5. Much smaller then mine so well I really can not model them (yeah I know a real big disappointment)

I also started the second monkey sock

It took a while to get a somewhat decent shot and it really is not that decent but you can somewhat see how big she is.

I would like to ask for an opinion on something. Today at work a fellow coworker (same position as me) made a comment while I was waiting to talk to my boss. She knows I have RA and well she is not known for being nice. I was out of work 2 days last week because of RA and that well my boss moved me and now there is a big thing going on about moving me back so I can work. Anyway as I was sitting there she said to me that I was a baby and well if I couldn't work why am I trying and that I should go out on disability. WTF!!!!!! I kinda went off on her. Who the f%$# does she think she is. I do have a right to be moved because well I can be. She was moved because well her knee hurt and she could not do the cafeteria because of all the standing that is evolved. Almost every joint in my body is hurting like the devil and I am the one being a baby! I tried to work the cafeteria. I tried rotating in and out of the cafeteria. I tried to be a good sport about it and well my body and RA say nope not happening. So because she made a big stink about her knee (and went over the bosses head) it is ok but me with the disease that might just one day put me in a wheel chair shouldn't work or try to work anymore.

Ok I have to stop because well I am really getting pissed and the kids are around. I am going to go pet some yarn and looking through my new Spin-off magazine

No knitting - Sewing!!

Really there was hardly any knitting going on.

Friday was a bad day in the RA department plus a lot of running around. Snickers had to go get a shot (Yeah! one more and she gets to go outside!!!) Snickers is up to 17 pounds at 4 months. What are the chances that she will be a medium sized dog around 35 pounds as the vet first suggested? I am thinking on the low end but we love her no matter what. When I asked the vet if she was still going to be around 35 pounds, he first said around 35 can be very broad depending on how you look at it. Then he asked if we would return her if she was bigger. I was shocked. Of course I told him no she is one of the family from the moment we picked her up and wouldn't think of returning her. I think it is very telling of how some people are and I guess there are enough of these people that my vet had to seriously ask me this question.

Something great also happened on friday, Hubby took me to Joann's. (No yarn was purchased, can you believe it!!) Purchases included thread (the whole reason I had to go), a rotary cutter (why did I wait so long to buy one?!) a self mending mat to go with cutter (on sale) and beads.
When we got home I broke out my sewing machine and sewed the lining into a bag that I had finished knitting last summer and was supposed to be a birthday gift for my aunt (whose bday was in november) Yep I am late but finished!!!!



The pattern is from Knitpicks and the yarn I think is Sierra. Did not remember to take a picture of the lining but it is black with silver pin striping. I really am not thrilled with how the sewing of the lining came out. The first time was bad!! Needless to say pulled it out. The second was ok but I was afraid to rip it out again and have the knitting and lining looking crappy.

While I had the machine out I made a pillow. I got the front fabric from a little "learn how to quilt" kit from Borders (on clearence for 3 bucks). I read the directions then followed my own pattern/idea.



There wasn't any fabric for the back so i pulled out some scraps. I love this fabric and I do have more of it, I just do not know what to do with it.

Very contrasty pillow but I love it. With the scraps left over from the back (and being too lazy to put what was left over away) I tried my hand at a sock bag. I have seen how to's all around BlogLand. I remembered the basics and went at it. I think it came out too small (maybe not for kids or baby socks)



Of course with the alpha beads and silver jump rings I just had to make more markers =) I have 2 sets already of alpha markers and I am using both soooo if I wanted to make any of the other socks from the New Pathways book I would need more markers. =) Plus Budha helped so it was a mother and daughter project. =)





These are cute. The stars say Just For You on them. I wasn't going to make them but Budha found them in my bead box and asked if we could put them on the rings, so that is what we did.

Saturday and today was basically trying to stay dry. Almost 4 inches of rain fell here on Long Island which means that the water wanted to come into our apartment (which is partly below ground) I am sure when the RA doctor told me to take it easy for a few days she did not mean this. Thankfully as of tonight (knock on wood) it had slowed done to a trickle (darn high water table and saturated ground) I am hoping tomorrow we will be back to normal here. I so wished it was snow and not rain.

Socks!!

Well I seem to be on a sock thing. All other projects have been tossed to the side. I have 5 different socks going right now with more wanting to be casted on. =)

I finished 1 Toe up, no purl, chart upside down mini monkeys.


I also finished one Mindless John B sock.

Plain foot with short row heel. The ribbing is garter rib 2x2 with 1x1 for about an inch on top. I find that garter rib is not snug enough so I usually add 1x1 ribbing on top.

Milkmaid Noro has another color stripe, which is red next color is forest green.


I have also knitted two more Capitan hats. I heart this pattern. Just a little bit of yarn and time and you get a really cool hat. These two will be gifts with maybe 2 more to go. I also heart quick easy gifts. =)




In other crappy new, I am really getting fed up with this RA. It sucks royally. I want to rant and go off but I will try to stay nice. What I really hate is people look at me and because I appear normal they think I am. In the words of my Hubby (said with love so no going off on him) I am broken and I can not do things everyone does. Trust me I do get pissed about what I can and can not do. I do not want people to pitty me when I tell them what I have and what that means. I just want them to understand that I have limits. When I told someone I work with I am on weekly chemo they were shocked. But I thought you just had arthritis. Ugh!! Unfortunately my boss is one of these people and a whole lot of crap is going on there. I am off today and tomorrow due to doctors orders. I will be having an MRI soon to see how this F*&%ing RA is progressing. It seems to be progressing fast. Yeah!! So I have a pain killer so I can now sleep and exercise never made it to the window to be thrown out (I was close to being able to start low impact exercise). I wouldn't wish RA on my worst enemy.

Well thank you for letting me rant. I do try to keep it upbeat but well today is just one of those days. I think I need to go knit and try to relax.
