Handspun

Well I have a few skeins of handspun that I have not mentioned and since I am seriously missing my wheel =( maybe showing what I made will help.

This skein is huge (for me) and took a long while for me to finish. The fiber is from Blue Moon. It is one of their Sheep to Shoe kits in I do believe Fire on the Mountain



I love all of the colors! I spun it in a way that I only had 2 plies of the same color line up and that only happened here and there.

Yarn: 302 yards 3Ply worsted weight
Fiber:8.5 oz of super washed merino



and yes that is our christmas tree in the background




These are the single of "Dales" fiber. I bought it from Sakina Needles (who sadly is going out of business - I did get some nice stuff from her sale)



2 hanks of 2 ply at a total yardage of 487 yards!! That is most I have gotten from anything. Granted I started with 8 oz but it was still cool.



I bought this a long while ago. Originally I bought it to spin and make something for a certain nephew of mine with the same name but now that he is almost 5, I do not think it is boyish enough.



4 simple colors, blue, green, yellow and white swirl together. I am sure I can find something for it =)

Yarn: 497 yards, 2 ply dk weight
fiber: 8 oz 100% superwashed merino


This is my favorite thing from Rhinebeck 08 (granted it is the only thing I have handled since Rhinebeck but I am sure it will stay my favorite)



This is what 4 oz of Angora!!!! Yes people I said Angora. (Bunny version of Angora not the goat version)



I found this in a little booth that had no customers in it (can you believe that!) and on the bottom of a rack was 2 packages of 2oz of angora. Oh I grabbed those puppies as fast as I could.



I love just petting it!



I love that I made thick thin yarn. Once I got passed the beginning stage of spinning it is very hard to make thick thin again.
Granted it is not a true thin thick yarn but it isn't even and that is what I wanted.

This was very fun to spin too. I need to find something for it. I was thinking hat but then I really wouldn't be feeling it, maybe a scarf? I have plenty already. Maybe I will make a cowl. I only have 1 and I think they are really a neat thing.

it didn't take me a month to blog again!! Sometimes I just have to laugh at myself, ya know what I mean?

Anyway lets seee how about some knitting?



Socks!

These were my SAM socks for last month. Pi socks. I am showing my geekness here. Each stripe (not counting toes or heal) represents a number in the number Pi. Ya know Pi 3.14159..........., it just keeps going on forever and never repeats. On the second sock I started over so each sock goes to the same number, and just to keep thing interesting I did the opposite colors on the second sock.



I used Brown Sheep Wildfoote in Rock n Roll and Knit Picks Essentials in Ash. Originally I was using navy but my luck the blue in the rock n roll kept pooling with the navy and I could not see the stripes. I do not really like the ash and amazed myself that I kept going with them. Thay are comfy socks so I am sure I will wear them

Since those socks I have finished one knitty thing. A Swallowtail Shawl. I used a hank of Noro sock yarn that I had laying around for over a year. I was making socks with it but I had them sitting for so long that when I went back to try to knit them all I did was mess them up royally so to the frog pond they went. The only mods I made was I used clear beads instead of making nubbs (just could not get the hang of them) I have finished knitting it but am not able to block it. So here is the best FO picture I have and it is one of my favorites

Needless to say I LOVE this man, he can always make me laugh.

Yes people I am still here

=) I am still here just not doing well. Not to bad, I will live just do not want to go into it. I can not sit for more then a few minutes hence why the radio silence. Today I am having a good day so what do I do..... I blog! =)

Where to start I have lots of pictures of stuff I have not blogged about, lots of stuff I have to take pictures of so I can blog about and well I guess it can be overwhelming.

Sad news my friend E lost her husband. She was holding out for another miracle but it didn't come. I have not been able to see her but I have talked to her and sent my thoughts and hugs to her. Of course E being E wanted to know how I was doing. So if you you can please send her and her boys some good thoughts.

I did get to finish her shawl

I threw this together for another co worker who is having her first (or could have had at this point) I used superwashed wool and sewed on felt eyes and spots. It really is cute and everyone loved it. I have my notes on it so I may write it up.

to me!!!!! Yep I am a whole year older today (yes I know technically it is only a day older but my number changed today) The big 32!!! =)

I have been doing what I want today and making what I wanted today for dinner! Hubby made me my favorite devils food chocolate cake and even went as far as to only frost half of it. I really do not like icing and eat around it.

Well that is the big thing for today now for some knitting content. Oh on a somewhat unrelated topic I went thru my list of FO's, pictures on my computer, pictures in flickr and what I blogged about and all I have to say is wow I am really un-organized this year!! I have things from January that I didn't blog about, yarn I spun and have already knitted up that I didn't blog about. Yarn I bought and didn't blog about. Yep me miss I am going cold sheep bought yarn. Granted most was my belated christmas gift for the Hubby but there was 2 I guess you could call them illegal skeins of yarn purchased. 2 very nice skeins mind you. =) So considering that the last time I purchased yarn for the sake of purchasing yarn was back in November I think I am still doing pretty good. Of course I went and updated my totals and even though I have knitted through over 3900 yards of yarn I am still on the plus side of the yarn stash at least I am using it (sounds good right)

Anyway back to knitting content. My March socks for SAM.



My Monkeys are done!! A few post ago I ended with the yarn cakes and now I have socks! I did them toe up and used almost every bit of yarn. I only had about a foot and a half left over in all from both socks.



Yarn is Claudia Handpaints Short Sport in Purple Earth. I really like this yarn, Nicely twisted and glides nicely when knitting.

Micro Monkey chart. Basically it is the monkey chart with a few stitches taken off each side and since I used size 3 needles the micro monkey chart fitted my sock number perfectly.

Off to do more of what I want to do!!!

A little sewing!

My two girl love to craft, help me cook (heck the older one likes to do dishes!!!!! knock on wood for me for mentioning that ok?) and so I figured it might be a good idea for these two to have aprons. Now I could have bought those cheaply made plastic art smocks for 20 each or I could sew. I choose to sew. Plus they each got to pick out the fabric.



This one is Drama's. Monkey girls with makeup and shoes and a tutu. Yep that is her in a nut shell.



This one is Buddah's. This girl LOVES anything purple! I just had enough for the apron front.

The aprons are reversible.


bad lighting but that color is a very bright pink, cause well they are girls after all.

The neck straps are attached on one side and snap on the other. Same with the waist straps. It makes it very easy for them to put the on and take them off. I found the pattern at Sew Liberated (on the side Montessori Child's apron). The mods I made were on the straps and I made the length a little longer since it the pattern is made for up to age 6 and well Drama is 6 and Buddah is the size of a 6 year old. They fit very well and should last for a few years, well if they do not wear them out that is.
